- There are 29 letters in the alphabet. 21 of these letters are consonants whereas 8 of them are vowels.
- Turkish is phonetic and there are no complicated phonics rules.
- Every letter has one sound value, except Ğ (Soft G).
- Ğ never appears at the beginning of a word. It always follows a vowel and makes that vowel pronounced longer.
